End Beam Design
The PRE-Stress software provides you the ability to design for spalling, bursting and anchorage reinforcement in the design of the prestressed beam supporting ends.
Design of Spalling Reinforcement
If activated in the calculation settings, this calculation determines required stirrups in the end zone due to the Spalling phenomenon. The required reinforcement, due to fracture mode spalling, is designed in accordance with the ‘strut-and-tie’ methodology.
There are many ways to set up a ‘strut-and-tie’ model. The model in the methodology is proposed in ‘Design and analysis of prestressed concrete structures’ by B. Engströms.
Design of Bursting Reinforcement
If activated in the calculation settings, this calculation determines required stirrups in the end zone due to the Bursting phenomenon. The bursting force is calculated using the symmetric prism analogy, Modelcode 90: 7.13.6.5.2.
Design of Anchorage Reinforcement
Anchorage of strands are designed in accordance with EC 2: 8.10.2.3 and the methodology is presented in ‘Svenska Betongföreningen Betongrapport nr. 15, volym II, utgåva2 – Beräkningsexempel B1’.
