Since 2018 IMPACT Precast Design and IMPACT Reinforcement have been fully integrated and compatible with BricsCAD. Here are five great reasons why you might now want to take a look at BricsCAD and get a free trial.
1. Pricing
BricsCAD is an extremely competitive CAD solution and offers both rental and perpetual licenses starting at €1,940 for annual rental (3 x year rental) and €1,200 for perpetual (including the first-year annual maintenance) for a single license for BricsCAD Pro v20 (the minimum version to run IMPACT v16). This is around a 70% saving over 3 years***
2. File Compatibility
BricsCAD is built on native DWG file format and supports both 2D and 3D. You can even open; read; edit and save your old AutoCAD® files v2.5 to DWG 2018.
3. Familiar User Interface
AutoCAD® Users can be up and running with BricsCAD within 30 minutes. There are a few minor differences but the learning curve is very fast as it has a familiar user interface.
You can read a full feature comparison between the two software here: BricsCAD vs. AutoCAD Feature Comparison – Bricsys Support and Help Centre.
4. IMPACT Speed/Performance
IMPACT with BricsCAD is also faster since the product is in general more lightweight and has a modern code. The continual improvements on BricsCAD and constant fixes make sure that the software can keep handling future challenges. Multi-threading workflows are also implemented to make use of multiple cores in the CPU. You can read more here: https://www.bricsys.com/en-eu/bricscad-pro/

5. IFC File export from BricsCAD BIM
A huge advantage when exporting to IFC file format from BricsCAD BIM is that when opening the IFC model in a viewer, the precast elements in the project will be presented in the same tree structure as within the IMPACT Project Manager.
Your IFC exported Project initially created in IMPACT Design also sorts the precast elements by buildings, floors, and types. This makes it very easy and fast to look up information from the navigation menu.
