We are very happy to announce that the new features in FEM-Design are set to be released in January. Major improvements and new features are implemented, from improved Documentation to a completely new design module for CLT panels, marking a milestone in FEM-Design history.
It is now possible to analyse and design Cross Laminated Timber not only as an orthotropic plate but with a completely new mechanical model based on the laminated shell theory. Take full control of your CLT panels and get results for the full panel or for each layer.
The Documentation module has always been a cornerstone of the FEM-Design package and it is now even better than ever. The Wizard function allows you to automatically generate graphical windows and tables and choose what kind of elements and results you want to add to your report.
Fire Design for Timber
Timber bars can initially be protected from fire exposure by structural elements or fire protective claddings and it’s now possible to consider these effects in FEM-Design. All of the new fire calculations, including the charring depth and the design procedure, are implemented according to Eurocode.
A big new feature in FEM-Design 19 is the improved API functionality. Previously, the different functions in FEM-Design could be accessed by using the XML file format. To make this a lot easier we have created user friendly toolboxes for Python, Dynamo and Grasshopper. Here you can create the model, run the analysis and export results, all with easy-to-use functions. Visit the wiki for more information!
Create a parametric template for models and quickly adjust the values to get various models and quick results. You can directly specify the number of truss divisions, the purlin or girder divisions and the structure automatically updates according to the new parameters.
